After getting to skip the first two rounds, the Auburn Tigers (39-16, 15-9 SEC) are set to play their first game in the SEC Tournament Thursday against Ole Miss (30-25, 15-11 SEC).
Ole Miss, the No. 11 seed, upset the LSU Tigers 5-3 Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinals. Auburn and Ole Miss faced off in the regular season with Auburn winning two of three games at Jane B. Moore Field in April.
While they know their opponent, the Tigers do not know when they will take the field. Weather delays during Wednesday’s action have caused a schedule change and the No. 8 seed Florida vs. No. 9 seed Kentucky will now open Thursday’s slate of games at 10 a.m. CT. Auburn and Ole Miss will then face off 35 minutes after the conclusion of that game.
The Tigers are looking to win their first SEC Tournament game since 2019 and are coming in with some momentum. They have won their last four series and ace [autotag]Maddie Penta[/autotag] is ready to go.
She earned four SEC Pitcher of the Week honors and finished the regular season with a 1.02 ERA, the lowest ever by a Tiger.
