On Monday, the Auburn coaching staff extended an offer to 2023 small forward Ron Holland. He is the fourth small forward that has been offered by the Tigers in the 2023 recruiting class.
Holland is regarded as a five-star according to 247Sports’ recruiting rankings. He is listed at 6-foot-8 and 195 pounds. Several of the schools that have offered Holland thus far are Houston, Memphis, UCLA, Texas, and Arkansas among numerous others. He played for Duncanville High School this past season. The Panthers went 35-1 and won the 6A state championship in Texas. Holland was very instrumental in the team’s success and will likely do the same next season.
The Tigers can use a player that can stretch the floor and present the size that Coach Pearl likes at either the three or four spot on the floor. Here is what 247Sports recruiting analyst Brandon Jenkins had to say about Holland’s playstyle:
“Holland has a high motor to go along with good mobility, length, and agility. He runs the floor and changes ends well. Holland is both very active and versatile defensively. He is capable of impacting the game in a number of ways, but his ability to crash the glass maybe his biggest strength. He has worked on his shooting mechanics as they have progressed since his arrival in high school. He needs to continue to develop in that area of his game. A young prospect for his class, Holland’s upside will be based upon his mindset and dedication in improving his craft.”
The addition of Holland would immediately boost the recruiting class. Coach Pearl and his staff are trying to assemble a “blue-blood” program. In order to do that, they know that they need some of the top recruits in the country. Holland fits in Pearl’s system and he is definitely a player to keep an eye on as his senior season approaches.
