Auburn moves ten places in latest USA TODAY Sports re-rank

Auburn was one of the country’s top movers in this week’s list by Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports.

Auburn made quite the impression during opening weekend.

The Tigers began the [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] era by gaining 495 yards of offense in a 59-14 shellacking of UMass last Saturday. USA TODAY Sports’ Paul Myerberg took note of Auburn’s performance and has placed them at No. 70 in this week’s College Football Re-Rank, which is a ten-spot increase from the initial rank.

This week, Auburn faces California in a nonconference affair on the West Coast. The Golden Bears, like Auburn, impressed Myerberg in week one, and they find themselves at No. 86 this week, which is a bump of 19 places.

Six SEC teams make up the re-rank’s top 25, with LSU being the biggest mover by falling four places to No. 15. Georgia tops this week’s rankings, with Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, Texas A&M, and Kentucky rounding out the top-25 from the SEC.

The biggest jump this week belongs to the Colorado Buffaloes. In their first game under head coach Deion Sanders, the Buffs knocked off TCU, 45-42. The win increases their position to No. 40, which is an impressive 76-spot bump. Duke rose 35 spots to No. 31 after their upset of Clemson on Monday night, and Texas State moves 50 places up to No. 81 after knocking off Baylor in Waco.
