Former Auburn commit [autotag]Hollis Davidson[/autotag] backed off his pledge to the Tigers in May, citing that he made a decision too early.
However, Auburn has remained in constant contact with Davidson since he de-committed which has paid off. Davidson is set to announce his commitment this week and Auburn remains in the hunt. The three-star tight end from Peachtree City, Georgia will choose between Auburn and Florida State on Thursday, July 4.
Ahead of his commitment, recruiting experts are certain that Auburn will win the sweepstakes again. Jeffrey Lee of Auburn Live has submitted a prediction for Auburn to land Davidson for the second time, doing so with 60% confidence.
Lee says that Davidson’s official visit to the Plains last month re-kindled the spark that he had for Auburn. During Davidson’s visit, he spent plenty of time with tight ends coach [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag], who showed him how he would be used in the Tigers’ offense.
“Probably my position meeting with Coach Ben (Aigamaua),” Davidson said in a recent interview with On3. “It was good. He showed me the specifics of how he would use me in the offense. He had already showed me that, but we had some good conversations in that room. I had a great time in there.”
With Lee’s prediction, Auburn has a 96.0% chance to land Davidson according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine. If he chooses the Tigers again, Davidson will be the second tight end to commit to Auburn’s 2025 class, joining fellow Georgian [autotag]Ryan Ghea[/autotag].
