Auburn has 76% chance to beat Virginia Tech on Wednesday

ESPN analytics is heavily favoring Auburn in their first-ever ACC-SEC Challenge contest.

After dropping their season opener earlier this month, the Auburn Tigers have cruised to four straight victories.

Can Auburn win its fifth straight game on Wednesday? ESPN analytics seems to think so.

Auburn hosts Virginia Tech as part of the inaugural ACC-SEC Challenge at Neville Arena, and ESPN analytics heavily favors Auburn in the matchup. According to ESPN’s matchup predictor, Auburn has a 76.4% chance of beating Virginia Tech on Wednesday night.

Both teams are similar regarding points allowed and field goal percentage, but the Tigers hold the edge in every other major category including points scored, assists, and blocks. The greatest gap is rebounding, where Auburn averages 40.2 rebounds per contest while the Hokies only grab 32.6 boards per game.

Wednesday marks day two of the first-ever ACC-SEC Challenge. Day one’s action featured several thrilling games including Kentucky’s 95-73 win over Miami and Georgia Tech’s 67-59 upset win over Mississippi State. Those joining Auburn-Virginia Tech in Wednesday’s action include Tennessee at North Carolina and Duke at Arkansas.
