Auburn gymnast Suni Lee has been named Sports Illustrated Female Athlete of the Year.
Lee won three gold medals in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, which included the all-around gold for women’s gymnastics.
She took to Instagram to acknowledge the award.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported me along this journey. I hope to be an example to those who have a passion for something but don’t always have the tools and support system needed to do so. Remember you don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great. This year has been a dream come true and it’s just the beginning.”
