Auburn University has officially named the location for its new football complex. University officials have approved for the new headquarters to be established on what is now the old Wilbur Hutsell Track and Field facilities which encompass Auburn’s 13 student practice tennis courts.
With a completion goal of 2022 in mind, the university is wasting no time in getting the project started. The entrance to the site on Biggio Drive will be closed as early as August 24th as Batson-Cook begins site-preparations. Once the Board of Trustees meets to approve final plans and a construction bid, construction of the buildings will begin.

Auburn Undercover’s Mark Murphy details what’s in store for Auburn’s new football facilities:
“The new football complex is expected to feature two outdoor practice fields and one indoors as well as spaces for new weight rooms, locker rooms, an equipment room, offices for coaches and other support staff for the football team. It is also expected to provide amenities for players on par with what new football facilities have at other programs around the SEC.”
The athletic complex that currently houses football opened in June 1989. Auburn Athletics Director Allen Greene and Head Football Coach Gus Malzahn both agree that a new football complex is long overdue, Malzahn donated $2 million to the project in 2018.
Auburn’s track and field program have used the Hutsell-Rosen track since 2006 and share facilities with the women’s soccer team. The student practice tennis courts will be relocated to the western side of campus.
Once the football program relocates to the completed site, other intercollegiate sports teams will use the former football facilities at the original athletics complex.
