Auburn earns top spot in Andy Katz’s Power 37

The Auburn Tigers keep on roaring through every single major poll this season.

The Auburn Tigers keep on roaring through every single major poll this season. On the same week Bruce Pearl’s squad finally usurped Tennessee from the top spot in both the AP and Coaches Poll, the Tigers claimed the No. 1 spot in NCAA analyst Andy Katz’s Power 37.

Katz, who releases his ‘Power 37’ weekly ranked three SEC programs in his top 5, although Auburn was the lone team from the conference to claim a spot in the top 3. Alabama (4) and Florida (5) checked in just behind Iowa State (2) and Duke (3).

The Tigers, who have played both No. 2 ranked Iowa State and No. 3 ranked Duke this season, will also host the No. 5 ranked Gators on February 8 before taking on the Crimson Tide a week later on the road before welcoming them to Neville Arena to wrap up the regular season. Auburn also took on No. 8 ranked Memphis in the Maui Invitational Championship this season, and will play contests against No. 6 ranked Tennessee and No. 11 ranked Kentucky as well.

There is no doubting the Tigers have earned every top ranking they have been given, but it will also be equally as difficult to retain, especially considering future conference opponents Kentucky (11), Texas A&M (14), and Mississippi State (23) all ranked within the top 25. Although the health of Johni Broome could raise cause for concern, the Tigers seem destined to earn themselves a No. 1 seed come Selection Sunday.
