The Auburn Tigers ended the first week of the basketball season with a 1-1 record, but it was deemed successful.
The Tigers dropped their season opener at a neutral site to then-No. 17 Baylor before rebounding for a win over Southeastern Louisiana last Friday night.
Heading into week two, Auburn remains in the “receiving votes” category of the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. Auburn’s first opponent, Baylor, climbed four spots to No. 13 following a 3-0 week.
This week should provide an easier workload for Auburn, as the Tigers prepare to head to Brooklyn, New York to compete in the Vivid Seats Legends Classic. Auburn opens up the weekend on Thursday night by facing Notre Dame at 8 p.m. CT and will take on either Oklahoma State or St. Bonaventure on Friday. Neither of Auburn’s upcoming opponents are ranked in this week’s poll.
The next ranked opponent on Auburn’s schedule will visit the Plains on Dec. 17. The USC Trojans jumped two spots to No. 19 after a 2-0 opening week.
