With his contract set to expire at the end of the 2021 season, the Atlanta Falcons elected to exercise their fifth-year option for wide receiver, and former Alabama star, Calvin Ridley for 2022 on Monday.
Ridley has been a great compliment to Atlanta’s wide receiver room alongside fellow Alabama alum, Julio Jones. In 44 total games, Ridley has 3,061 yards on 217 catches, with 26 touchdowns. In what was a breakout season in 2020, Ridley set a career-high in receptions (90), receiving yards (1,374), and touchdown receptions (15).
According to OverTheCap.com, Ridley is guaranteed to earn $972,809 for 2021, and $11,116,000 in his now final year of 2022.
Ridley played in 44 total games for Alabama from 2015-17, catching 224 passes for 2,781 yards and 19 touchdowns. Following his three-year career at Alabama, Ridley was drafted 26th overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2018 draft, where he has continued to be a great asset to his quarterback.
