Braves at Orioles: Projected starting pitchers
RHP Huascar Ynoa vs. RHP Thomas Eshelman
Ynoa has made seven appearances (three starts) for the Braves this season. In total, he has pitched 14 2/3 innings, while posting a 6.75 ERA and more walks than strikeouts (12 to 11).
- Ynoa put up pretty strong strikeout numbers throughout his minor league career, but had some control issues. He had an ugly 4.1 BB/9 in the minors, and has dished out far too many free passes in his young major league career.
- Of the 33 left-handed batters Ynoa has faced, he has struck out just two of them, while walking nine (one intentional).
Eshelman has pitched out of the bullpen for most of the season, but has made three starts. In total, he has compiled a 3.96 ERA, but with just 11 strikeouts in 25 innings (4.0 K/9).
- A .187 BABIP has played a major role in Eshelman maintaining a sub-4.00 ERA. A FIP of 6.00 shows just how fortunate he has been to this point.
- He has a 3.86 ERA in 14 innings at home, but the skills certainly don’t support that level of performance. He has a 5:6 K:BB and has already allowed three homers in his home park.

Prediction
Braves 8, Orioles 6
Moneyline (ML)
- Braves (-162)
- Orioles (+145)
Neither starting pitcher is a great bet to have much success or to work very deep into the game. Both have shown weak skills, and Eshelman is faced with a particularly tough matchup, as the Braves rank third in wRC+ against right-handed pitching. Side with the stronger offense, and take the BRAVES (-162).

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)
- Braves -1.5 (-110)
- Orioles +1.5 (-110)
Of the last 10 games the Braves have won, eight have been by multiple runs. They should put a lot of runs on the board Tuesday, and being the road team is a slight boost to their chances of winning by more than one, in case it’s tied late in the game. Look for the offense of the BRAVES -1.5 (-110) to do enough to cover this line.
Over/Under (O/U)
- Over 10 (-110)
- Under 10 (-110)
The Over is 26-18 (with four pushes) in Atlanta’s games this season, and this sets up to be a high-scoring game. The Braves are likely to have a good night offensively, while Baltimore, who scored 14 runs Monday night when the Braves threw a weak starter at them, should do their part as well.
With these two pitchers on the mound, it would be very surprising to see a low-scoring game. Expect both offenses to strike early and often, which should result in the OVER 10 (-110) hitting at Camden Yards Tuesday evening.
