Athlon Sports projects Colorado to reach bowl game in Deion Sanders’ second season

Athlon Sports sees Colorado making a bowl game this season

Considering the productive offseason Colorado football has enjoyed, it’s bowl game or bust for the Buffs heading into Deion Sanders’ second year at the helm.

Athlon Sports seemingly agrees as writer Steve Lassan recently projected Colorado to reach its first bowl game since the COVID-shortened 2020 season. On Friday, Lassan revealed his preseason Big 12 bowl game projections for 2024, and Colorado was slotted into the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl taking on the ACC’s North Carolina Tar Heels.

This isn’t the first time Colorado has been linked to the 2024 Sun Bowl, which is scheduled for New Year’s Eve. Last month, The Sporting News projected Coach Prime’s Buffs to battle North Carolina State in the annual El Paso bowl game.

If the predictions hold, it would mark Colorado’s first-ever Sun Bowl appearance.
