Ashton Dulin’s toe injury not expected to end season

The toe injury that put Ashton Dulin on the injured reserve list is not expected to end his season.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Ashton Dulin was placed on the injured reserve list this week due to a toe injury, which means he will miss the next four games.

While the Colts will be without a key depth piece and a core special teamer, head coach Frank Reich told reporters Wednesday that Dulin is expected back at some point this season.

“I expect him back,” Reich said.

Though Dulin hasn’t played as many snaps as the three wide receivers ahead of him on the depth chart, he does have the third-most receiving yards and the fourth-most receptions across the entire offense through five weeks.

With Dulin on the injured reserve list, the Colts only have four wide receivers on the active roster. They are likely to call up one of Keke Coutee or Dezmon Patmon. Or they could make a move in free agency.

It will be interesting to see how this impacts the room, and it likely means more snaps for second-year wideout Mike Strachan.

But Dulin will be on the reserve list for the next four games, making him eligible to return going into Week 10.
