If anyone’s equipped to handle the media, it’s Tom Brady.
The 43-year-old is heading to the Super Bowl for the tenth time in his career, which is an absolutely incredible feat. Brady has more than double the postseason wins (33) than the next-best player, Joe Montana (16). With the prestige and joy that comes with Super Bowl appearances, there’s also a ton of time in front of a camera.
Super Bowl Media Days can be extremely fun for players, but Brady has a barrage of questions ahead of him regarding the New England Patriots. Due to his preparation under Bill Belichick, he’ll be in position to control the narrative.
He already began with those deflective answers while speaking to reporters after the 36-21 victory over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game.
“It’s hard to compare—it’s not worth it comparing any of that to me,” Brady said, transcribed by NBC Sports. “It doesn’t really matter. It’s an incredible feeling and to win a conference championship is incredible. To win a Super Bowl championship is one of the great feelings in the world. But they don’t give these away. Obviously, everything’s different this year, with us being at home. I’m sure it’ll feel like just another game, although we all know it’s just not another game.”
How does he feel about playing in his tenth Super Bowl?
“It’s been an interesting life for me, you know?” Brady said. “I still get to do something I love to do and certainly don’t take anything for granted. Just grateful to everyone who supports me. And obviously my wife, my kids. Nobody can do anything in life without incredible support. Grateful to my parents, for being raised the right way. The commitment they showed. And my friends over the years.
I think man, I’ve accomplished all of these things and I think for me the best part is sharing it with everybody else and just seeing videos of my kids jumping around and my friends jumping around. It makes it all so special for me and worth everything because I still get to live my dream. It’s an amazing feeling.”
Brady did what the Buccaneers hoped he would do and it cemented his legacy as the greatest player to ever step on an NFL field. Next up, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
