Arthur Smith after Falcons’ 1st home win: ‘I appreciate our fans’

Smith praised Foye Oluokun for his game-winning interception, complimented Matt Ryan’s toughness and discussed in-game adjustments.

The Falcons may have just barely escaped another embarrassing home loss at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, but Sunday’s 20-16 victory over the Lions was nothing new for this Atlanta team.

As head coach Arthur Smith pointed out in his press conference, the Falcons are 7-2 in one-possession games this year, despite all of the team’s shortcomings.

What is perhaps even harder to believe is that Atlanta has earned six of those seven victories on the road. Sunday’s win was the team’s first at home this season, and it couldn’t have happened at a more critical time.

“It was really nice to get a win at home, here,” Smith said in his postgame press conference. “I appreciate our fans. Our fans have been great all year.”

The first-year head coach complimented linebacker Foye Oluokun on his game-winning interception, praised Matt Ryan’s toughness and discussed the team’s ability to make adjustments during the game.
