For the first time ever, Arsenal’s women’s team will embark on a preseason tour of the United States.
The Gunners men’s team has been touring the U.S. for years, and now the women’s side will follow suit as they prepare for the 2024-25 season.
Arsenal will be based in the Washington D.C. area, and will play two matches at Audi Field: one against NWSL side Washington Spirit, and another against WSL rival Chelsea.
The latter match will be part of a doubleheader, with the Washington Spirit facing the Kansas City Current in the first game.
“To take our women’s team to the U.S. for the first time on tour is another sign of great progress.” managing director Richard Garlick told Arsenal.com.
“We know from our recent trip to Australia that the interest and love for Arsenal Women stretches far and wide. We want to build on that and bring our U.S. supporters closer to the club. We look forward to our visit and building strong foundations for a momentous season ahead, which will see more women’s games come to Emirates Stadium.”
Arsenal has actually played in the U.S. before, facing the Seattle Reign in a May 2016 friendly after the completion of their league season.
