Arrest warrants issued for Giants CB Deandre Baker and Seahawks CB Quinton Dunbar

Two defensive backs, Deandre Baker and Quinton Dunbar, face armed robbery charges in Florida after an incident that occurred May 13th.

On Thursday evening, the Miramar Police Department in Broward County, Florida issued arrest warrants for New York Giants cornerback Deandre Baker and Seattle Seahawks defensive back Quinton Dunbar. The Affidavit and Application for Arrest Warrant for both players, which was filed in the Circuit Court of the Seventeenth Judicial Court, Broward County, alleges that both Baker and Dunbar on May 13th, around 11 pm in the evening, did “knowningly commit the act of Armed Robbery.”

Specifically, the Affidavits in support of the arrest warrant allege that in the City of Miramar on the night of the 13th a party was held were both Baker and Dunber were in attendance. The host of the party alleges that at one point he was outside cooking food when he heard a commotion inside. When he looked inside the home, he saw Baker with a gun in his hand, pointing it at one of the attendees of the party. Baker was also observed directing two other individuals to “take money and valuables” from the other attendees, and that Dunbar was assisting Baker in taking the money and valuables.

Another individual who was interviewed, but not identified in the Affidavits, stated that he had just walked into the residence when Baker “directed the individual wearing the red mask to shoot him.” This same individual stated that the person wearing the red mask robbed him of “$7,000 in U.S. Currency and a Hublot Watch valued at $25,000.” This individual also declared that Baker pointed a gun at him and that he was “in fear for his life.” Additionally, this individual declared that two other individuals were armed, but Dunbar was not.

At the end of the Affidavit in support of Baker’s arrest warrant, the City of Miramar detective declared that Baker “did in fact knowingly committed the offense of Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault per Florida State Statute(s) Section 812.13(2)(a) and 784.021. It is also alleged that Baker committed Aggravated Assault with a Firearm in violation of Florida State Statute Sections 784.021 and 775.087. Baker is charged with four counts of Armed Robbery and three counts of Aggravated Assault With a Fire Arm, and on the Bail Endorsement it is noted that no bond is allowed, and that he is to be held until his first appearance before a magistrate judge.

With respect to Dunbar, the Affidavit in support of the warrant charge Dunbar with the same crimes, Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault per Florida State Statute(s) Section 812.13(2)(a) and 784.021. Dunbar faces four counts of Armed Robbery, and is also to be held without bond.

According to TMZ, the Giants issued a statement saying “We are aware of the situation. We have been in contact with Deandre. We have no further comment at this time.”
