Arrest warrant issued for Jalen Carter related to crash that killed Georgia teammate, staffer

An arrest warrant has been issued for Georgia DT Jalen Carter related to the crash that killed teammate, staffer.

An arrest warrant has been issued for University of Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter related to his alleged involvement in a crash that killed teammate Devin Willock and Georgia football staffer Chandler LeCroy back on Jan. 15.

According to the statement from the ACCPD (via Seth Emerson), Carter and LeCroy “were operating their vehicles in a manner consistent with racing” and that “alcohol impairment, racing, reckless driving, and speed were significant contributing factors to the crash.”

The Atlanta Journal-Constitutions reported that Carter misled the police about being present on the scene of the crash. After first telling the authorities he was roughly a mile away when it happened, he said he was behind the other car, and then he said he was alongside the car when it crashed.

According to Emerson, both charges against Carter are misdemeanors.

Carter, who is considered a top prospect in this 2023 NFL draft class, is at the NFL Scouting Combine. He was scheduled to speak with reporters shortly before this news broke.

With the Bears sitting at No. 1 overall, Carter has been someone linked to the team throughout the pre-draft process.
