Around the North: Steelers keep it in the family, select Joey Porter Jr.

The Steelers have selected the son of long-time Pittsburgh linebacker Joey Porter to open the second round

Like father, like son. The 2023 NFL draft has kicked back off, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have made the first selection after landing pick no. 32 for trading Chase Claypool to the Chicago Bears at the deadline this season. And with the selection, the Steelers have taken the son of Pittsburgh royalty, adding Penn State cornerback Joey Porter Jr.

His dad, of course, was a long-time linebacker and Super Bowl winner for the Steelers throughout the 2000s era of dominant football. Staying in the family, the Steelers have decided the Porter family should not suit up for anyone other than the black and yellow.
