UNC basketball senior Armando Bacot has picked up another honor ahead of the 2022-23 season.
On Tuesday, Bacot was named the preseason player of the year in the Atlantic Coast Conference, voted on by the media. Bacot had 82 first-place votes, beating out Miami’s Isiah Wong who had five votes, teammate Caleb Love with four votes, and Duke’s Jeremy Roach with three votes among others.

Bacot had a career year for the Tar Heels last season, averaging 16.3 points, 13.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. He shot 56.9 percent from the field and developed into UNC’s best player as the season went on.
Going into this season, Bacot is expected to pick up a bunch of preseason honors nationally as well. He will be among the favorites to win the player of the year award as well as land on preseason first teams as well.
