Armando Bacot got off to a little bit of a slower start to his season here in the 2023-24 campaign. But recently, Bacot has upped his game and you can see the difference.
On Saturday, Bacot made some history becoming the fourth player in the ACC to reach the 1,500-rebound mark for his career. Bacot posted another double-double, finishing with 16 points and 11 rebounds to help the Tar Heels to a 103-67 blowout win.
For his efforts, he earned some recognition as a ‘winner of the week’ by CBS Sports:
Armando Bacot joined exclusive company Saturday when the North Carolina star big man pulled down his 1,500th career rebound in the No. 7 Tar Heels’ 103-67 victory vs. Syracuse. Bacot joined Tim Duncan, Ronnie Shavlik and Ralph Sampson as only the fourth player in the history of the ACC to record at least 1,5000 boards. North Carolina moved to 5-0 in conference play and the 36-point loss by the Orange marked their largest margin of defeat since a 39-point loss to DePaul in 2006. — Salerno
Bacot is starting to play a lot better, as is UNC all together. The Tar Heels are playing some of their best basketball of the year right now and look like a team firing on all cylinders.
A couple more big games from Bacot and he might be able to crawl into the ACC Player of the Year conversation.
