Armando Bacot is back on the recruiting trail targeting a former Baylor standout

Armando Bacot is recruiting former Baylor standout Michael Mayer via Twitter as the Tar Heels look for a transfer.

With the departure of Kerwin Walton, the UNC basketball program now has an open scholarship. Ideally, UNC would love to land a player to play in the post alongside [autotag]Armando Bacot[/autotag] to play the role that Brady Manek did a year ago.

And Bacot himself may have the ideal target.

The forward, who announced he was returning for his senior season, was back on Twitter recruiting a potential transfer target. And that target is former Baylor standout Matthew Mayer. Bacot tweeted to Mayer on a quote tweet, telling him that he knows where he needs to go in the transfer portal:

Mayer entered the portal while still staying in the NBA draft process, hoping to get some feedback on his game.

The former Baylor forward averaged 9.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game last season while shooting 40.9% from the field. He shot 39.5% from the three-point line in the 2020-21 season, the year Baylor won it all and would be a fit in the forward spot.

Let’s see if Bacot can help influence Mayer to North Carolina.
