Another day, another honor for North Carolina Tar Heels forward Armando Bacot.
Ahead of his fifth and final season with the program, Bacot was one of five players named to the Associated Press All-American Preseason First Team for the 2023-24 season. It’s the second straight year Bacot has been named to the preseason First Team for the Tar Heels.
Leading the way on the team is Purdue’s Zach Edey, the lone unanimous pick by a 60-person media panel. He was joined by Bacot as well as Duke’s Kyle Filipowski, Kansas’ Hunter Dickinson, and Marquette’s Tyler Kolek.
As the Tar Heels struggled last season, Bacot was one of the consistent bright spots on the roster.
He averaged 13.7 points and 10.1 rebounds while shooting 56% from the floor last season. He earned third-team AP All-America honors to close out the season.
North Carolina will return two starters from last season’s team with Bacot and guard R.J. Davis coming back. It will be a new-look roster for Hubert Davis and his staff as they went to the transfer portal to try and fix some needs they had after players left for other programs.
The Tar Heels are set to host an exhibition this Friday night before opening the season on November 6th by hosting Radford.
