Armando Bacot opted to return for another season at North Carolina as the Tar Heels have national championship aspirations again. With Bacot returning, the Tar Heels should be one of the frontrunners this year to not only win the Atlantic Coast Conference but in all of the country.
And Bacot is already earning some preseason recognition.
247Sports put out their preseason All-ACC predictions for the upcoming year and Bacot was the lone Tar Heels’ player on the first team. Here is what Isaac Trotter had to say about the senior being one of the best players in the conference for another season:
No big man is on Bacot’s tier in the ACC. He stands alone atop the league. Bacot helps North Carolina’s floor stay so high because he’s unstoppable offensively and a brick wall on defense. Bacot rebounds everything in sight and is unmovable in the paint. Bacot will not be satisfied unless North Carolina wins the ACC and then wins the national championship. “Unfinished business” is the theme around North Carolina basketball. Bacot will already be one of the best players in North Carolina’s history. But his legacy completely changes if he accomplishes those last few goals. He’s a shoo-in to be All-ACC, and Bacot is the heavy favorite to win ACC Player of the Year.
Bacot should be the ACC preseason Player of the Year when the media votes later this Fall and he will be in the running for National Player of the Year as well
While Bacot was the lone Tar Heel in the predictions, Trotter listed both Caleb Love and R.J. Davis as players who are in the mix as well. The Tar Heels’ starting five should be one of the best in the conference with those three leading the way.
