Armando Bacot made the decision to return for a fifth and final year at North Carolina, looking for a bounce-back. After leading the Tar Heels to a Final Four run back in 2022, the program fell flat last season as they failed to make the tournament.
With Bacot back, he will look to lead this UNC team to the tournament and try to have a special year in his final season. But before the year begins, he’s earning some more preseason recognition.
Following the 2023 ACC Tipoff event this week, the media released its preseason poll and awards, including the All-ACC preseason teams. And to no one’s surprise, Bacot made the first team:
Preseason All-ACC
First Team
Kyle Filipowski, Duke, 51
Armando Bacot, North Carolina, 50
PJ Hall, Clemson, 48
Reece Beekman, Virginia, 44
Norchad Omier, Miami, 42
Second Team
Judah Mintz, Syracuse, 39
Nijel Pack, Miami, 34
Blake Hinson, Pitt, 33
Tyrese Proctor, Duke, 24
Quinten Post, Boston College, 23
Bacot was the lone UNC player on any of the teams for the preseason polls, a year season after he was on the All-ACC first team for 2022-23. As for Player of the Year in the conference, Bacot was second to Duke’s Kyle Filipowski.
