The preseason recognition just keeps rolling in for University of North Carolina standout [autotag]Armando Bacot[/autotag].
On Monday, Bacot was named to the Associated Press’ Preseason All-American First Team just a few weeks before the start of the 2022-23 college basketball season. It’s the latest honor for the UNC forward who returned for another year in Chapel Hill to “run it back” with four of five starters returning.
But no return was bigger than Bacot.
As a junior, Bacot averaged 16.3 points and 13.1 rebounds per game for the Tar Heels while recording 31 double-doubles, tying an NCAA record. He’s back to help lead the charge for UNC and will play a big role in the Tar Heels success.
Kentucky’s Oscar Tschiebwe and Gonzaga’s Drew Timme were unanimous selections for the first team. Joining the trio were Houston guard Marcus Sasser and Indiana forward Trayce Jackson-Davis.
The team is voted on by 59 media members who vote on the weekly AP Top 25 poll. The Tar Heels took home the preseason No. 1 ranking for the upcoming season a week ago.
