During North Carolina’s loss to UConn on Tuesday night, start forward Armando Bacot appeared to be bothered after taking a foul in the first half.
On the free throws, Bacot barely hit the rim on one of them and appeared to grab his knee in discomfort. He did finish the game, scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds in the loss.
But after the game, Bacot revealed that he felt a ‘pop’ when he was shooting a free throw. Here is what he said via Tar Heels Illustrated:
“At the beginning of the game, I shot a free throw, and I went to bend and, I don’t know, I don’t want to say it was a pop but I felt something in my knee,” Bacot explained after the contest. “And then really the whole game I felt that I just didn’t have that pop anymore. It was definitely tough on me.”
The Tar Heels do have a good 10 days off before they face off against Kentucky on December 16th in the CBS Sports Classic in Atlanta. It will be another tough game for the Tar Heels with a ranked Wildcats team getting ready for them.
UNC is going to need Bacot be healthy and play at a high level the rest of the way of they want to achieve their goal.
