Arkansas Signee leads High School team to Final Four

Barry Dunning, a small forward from Mobile, Ala. has been posting incredible numbers on his way to leading his team to the AHSAA Final Four.

The future of Arkansas basketball continues to be very bright.

While Razorback fans have plenty to be excited about with players such as Nick Smith and Jordan Walsh joining the roster next season, there’s another signee that is making a splash in the postseason, that’s Barry Dunning.

Dunning, a four-star small forward from McGill-Toolen High School in Mobile, Ala. has been posting incredible numbers on his way to leading his team to the Alabama High School Athletic Association Final Four.

His most impressive stat line this postseason was in the regional semi-finals against Benjamin Russell.

Dunning scored 25 points while pulling down 25 rebounds and recording five assists as McGill-Toolen stormed back from being down 15 points in the third quarter to defeat Benjamin Russell, 82-74 in overtime.

In the regional finals, Dunning scored 27 more points and recorded 18 rebounds in the win over rival Spanish Fort.

In an article posted by Ben Thomas of AL.com, Dunning says that being pressured never gets the best of him.

“I just try to stay calm. Who doesn’t like to be pressured?,” said Dunning. “That means you are doing something right. I thought there was a calm about all of us today.”

Dunning and the McGill-Toolen Yellow Jackets battle Huffman High School in the AHSAA semi-finals on Wednesday, March 2, at Legacy Arena in Birmingham.
