Arkansas baseball has had five players in school history make All-American twice.
Hagen Smith could make it six.
The Razorbacks left-hander was named to such an honor Wednesday by Collegiate Baseball. Smith registered 109 strikeouts in 71 2/3 innings with a 3.64 earned-run average and opponents hit just .217 against him.
Smith was Arkansas’ ace all season, even in his seven relief apperances. He shifted to the bullpen as Arkansas’ closer halfway through the SEC schedule when Brady Tygart and Kotry Frank were lost to injury.
Arkansas has had 32 All-American players in its history. Kevin McReynolds, Jeff King, Phil Stidham and David Walling are the only four have been named All-Americans twice. Smith has a chance to be the third as he is not eligible for this summer’s MLB Draft and will reteurn to the Diamond Hogs.
