Arkansas linebacker Chris Paul Jr. to enter transfer portal

Paul was second on the team with 72 tackles and is expected to draw interest from big-time programs.

Arkansas’ second leading tackler, linebacker Chris Paul Jr., will enter the transfer portal.

The sophomore from Georgia made 72 tackles in the 2023 season, a total that placed him second on the team even as battled injuries throughout a bulk of the year.

“First and foremost I want to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to play the game I love and cherish,” Paul wrote on X. “I want to thank my coaches and teammates for the connections and bonds that we have built over this journey of my life. I also want to thank you all for welcoming me in with open arms. These bonds will never be broken and never forgotten. I also want to thank Hog Nation for your unconditional support throughout my career here at the University of Arkansas. However, after conversations with God and my family, I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal with 2 years of eligibility left. Thank you all for making this possible.”

Paul was fifth on the team in tackles in the 2022 season when he was the team’s No. 3 linebacker behind Drew Sanders and Grant Morgan.

He is expected to draw interest not only from power-conference schools, but also from potential national-champion-type of schools.

Paul is the second Razorbacks player to enter the transfer portal this season.
