Arkansas, even on a two-game losing streak, is still one of college football’s favorites.

The Razorbacks are ranked 19th in the coaches poll and 17th in the media poll. Only two two-loss teams in the country, Florida and Texas, at 17th and 18th, are ranked ahead of Arkansas. In the Associated Press poll, the Hogs are the top-ranked two-loss team.

The math also favors Arkansas. ESPN’s Football Power Index gives the Hogs a 60 percent chance to beat Auburn in Week 7. Arkansas is back at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium for the first time in three weeks when it hosts the Tigers.

Auburn is coming off a 34-10 loss to Georgia on Saturday. Between that result and Arkansas’ one-point loss, the Hogs actually leapfrogged the Tigers in the FPI. Arkansas is now 18th in the index. Auburn fell to 20th.

That’s because, despite the optics of Arkansas 52-51 loss to Ole Miss, the FPI algorithm still thinks highly of the Razorbacks’ defense. They entered sixth  in defensive efficiency before the game and dropped only to 18th afterward. Arkansas’ offense jumped from 57th to 25th in offensive efficiency.
