Arkansas drops three spots to No. 19 in coaches poll

Arkansas did not fall far in the coaches poll after dropping a tough one to Ole Miss.

A day after one of the biggest heartbreakers Arkansas football has had in decade, the Razorbacks get an idea where they stand in college football’s pecking order.

Arkansas fell, 52-51, in Week 6 to Ole Miss in Oxford. Coach Sam Pittman elected to go for a two-point conversion with no time remaining in the fourth quarter, but KJ Jefferson’s pass missed its target and the Rebels escaped.

The result dropped the Hogs (4-2, 0-2) three spots to No. 19 in the AFCA USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Other SEC teams inside the top 25 include Georgia (1), Alabama (5), Kentucky (11), Ole Miss (14), Florida (17) and Texas A&M (18). Auburn dropped out of the Top 25 after losing to Georgia on Saturday, but the Tigers were the top vote-getting team outside the rankings.

The Hogs return to Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium to face Auburn in Week 7.

After Ole Miss, the Hogs will return home to play Auburn on October 16.
