Arkansas will never have the No. 1 recruiting class in the country. It will probably never have the No. 1 transfer portal class in the country.
But between the two, combined, coach Sam Pittman is a skilled enough at selling his program that the Razorbacks are better than most at both. That’s led to consistency – if not outright glamor – in recent years for the Hogs. And Pittman knows it will have to keep up.
When he arrived in 2020, he was taking over the disaster left behind by former coach Chad Morris. Morris was let go before even his second season was finished as Arkansas won a grand total of three games each
Only two players are left from that class. Meaning at this point, it’s Pittman’s team.
“I learned my lesson a couple years ago,” he said. “We were talking about who we could afford to lose. I went this spring and said I don’t want nobody to leave.”
Arkansas’ transfer class is ranked 11th from the 19 pick-ups received since January. And with player movement easier to achieve than ever before, coaches like Pittman can reap the greatest rewards.
