Arkansas basketball holds tight in Associated Press Poll

Arkansas basketball didn’t move up or down in the Associated Press Poll after a 2-0 week.

The Arkansas basketball team entered the 2021 season as one of the best teams in the nation. The Razorbacks No. 16 in the Associated Press Poll and after the first week of the season, little change.

Arkansas, after a 2-0 week with wins over Mercer and Gardner-Webb, held tight at No. 16 in the AP Poll. The only difference is how close the rest of the SEC is to the Razorbacks.

Kentucky fell three spots to No. 13 after losing to Duke. Alabama held at No. 14. Tennessee went up a spot to No. 17. Auburn moved up a place to No. 21 and Florida held at No. 24. Mississippi State and LSU picked up six and three points to rank a de facto 40th and 43rd.

Arkansas used a second-half rally to beat Mercer in the season opener, 74-61, then used a 27-5 run to end the first half in dispatching Gardner-Webb, 86-69.

The Hogs play Northern Iowa on Wednesday at Bud Walton Arena in their only game this week. The biggest news around Razorbacks basketball was the signing of a five-man recruiting class ranked No. 2 in the nation.
