Saturday’s series finale between Arkansas and Vanderbilt holds implications. Especially after Friday’s Game 2.
In that game, Arkansas held a 8-2 lead up until the Vanderbilt boys put together a big eighth inning, giving them a 10-8 comeback victory.
The loss prevented the Diamond Hogs from clinching the SEC regular season title, giving them only a half-game lead over LSU and one game lead over Florida. Florida suffered a 6-4 loss to Kentucky, while LSU clinched their series against Georgia with an 8-4 victory.
The Hogs will need to win the final game of the season to claim the SEC season title. If they can’t capture the victory, they will need losses from both Florida and especially LSU.
Giving up multiple runs in one inning has hurt the Hogs in the past. This will be something Dave Van Horn has to address before the NCAA Tournament, and hopefully, it doesn’t continue to haunt them in the future.
