Arkansas and Mississippi State meet in a massive game for both teams on Saturday. And, really, that isn’t new.
The two schools have been oddly similar since they both joined the SEC. Let’s take a look at their series both before and since that time.
The first time Arkansas and Mississippi State met on the football field was in 1916. The Bulldogs walked off the field with a 20-7, closing their 4-4-1 season.
The next matchup wouldn’t happen for another 23 years, and once both teams joined the Southeastern Conference, they’ve played annually since 1992.
Arkansas is currently on a two-game win streak. Sam Pittman and Mike Leach both joined their respective teams in 2020. Pittman hasn’t lost to Leach, Arkansas, knocking off the Bulldogs 31-28 in 2021 and 21-14 in 2020.
Mississippi State went on a dominant run over Arkansas from 2010-2019, going 7-3 over the ten years. Their biggest win came in 2018 when they punished the Razorbacks 52-6.
Before that run, the series was all Arkansas.
Arkansas has the longest win streak in the series, with nine games from 1999-2007.
Each team has had a dominant in the series, but the biggest storyline going into Saturday’s matchup in StarkVegas is whether or not Leach can snag his first win against Pittman.
