As we approach the middle of April, we are starting to see which programs are going to make a serious run to Omaha.
It all begins in the SEC where the LSU Tigers, Florida Gators, Vanderbilt Commodores, South Carolina Gamecocks, and Arkansas Razorbacks lead the way. The Kentucky Wildcats (No. 11) and Tennessee Vols (No. 12) are also among the top 15 programs in the country this season.
Out of the ACC, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are doing their part to stay with the top-ranked Tigers stride for stride. The Virginia Cavaliers, Louisville Cardinals, and North Carolina Tar Heels are also giving the ACC plenty of top teams this season in baseball.
With another week of rankings, we have our biggest risers and deepest dropping programs according to the coaches who voted on this week’s rankings. This week, the Arizona State Sun Devils and USC Trojans of the Pac-12 jumped 13 and 12 spots. They check in at No. 23 and No. 24.
The Miami Hurricanes had the biggest tumble this week for teams that remained ranked, as they dropped five spots to land at No. 25. The West Virginia Mountaineers and North Carolina State Wolfpack both fell out of the rankings. They would be No. 35 and No. 30 based on their votes this week.
