After losing five scholarship players in the secondary, the Washington Huskies are looking to revamp the back end of their defense as standout cornerback Thaddeus Dixon considers returning to Montlake for one more season.
In preparation for the All-Big Ten honorable mention, who may choose to enter his name into the NFL draft, cornerbacks coach John Richardson is reportedly set to host one of his proudest products from his time at Arizona, Tacario Davis.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Davis was named to the Second Team All-Big 12 in 2024 after receiving an All-Pac-12 honorable mention in 2023. He’s been one of the most productive defensive backs in the country, accruing 76 tackles, 23 pass breakups, and an interception over three seasons in Tucson.
According to multiple reports, Davis is preparing to take a visit to Washington in the coming days.
If he were to spend his final season with the Huskies, he would immediately be inserted as a starter across from his running mate at Arizona, Ephesians Prysock, and give the Huskies one of the best, and most reliable cornerbacks in the country who can go toe-to-toe with some of the top pass catchers in the Big Ten, like Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith.
Davis is ranked as the No. 13 overall player in the transfer portal by 247Sports, but securing his commitment is far from a sure thing. He’s heavily weighing the idea of entering the NFL draft, where he should be considered at worst a top-50 selection in April.
If he does end up choosing Washington, Davis would be the ideal stopgap for the position as Richardson continues to develop the Huskies’ promising, but young and inexperienced cornerbacks group.
