Arizona at Washington: Three things to know

  1. Arizona lost a tough one to USC in the opener last week, but there were plenty of bright spots. QB Grant Gunnell completed 24 of 36 passes while throwing for 286 yards and 3 touchdowns, while RB Gary Brightwell ran for 112 yards and WR Tayvian Cunningham racked up 110 yards and a score.
  2. Washington edged Oregon State 27-21 in its opener. Hopefully, you didn’t play the Over, as that was a bad beat for sure. There were 45 total points on the board at halftime, with a total of just 50.5. There was a ton of kicking woes in this game, and the second half saw just a lone field goal. Ouch.
  3. Washington has dominated this series in recent seasons, especially against the number. The Huskies are 4-0 ATS in their past four home games vs. the Wildcats, and 4-1 ATS in the past five meetings overall. The favorite is 6-2 ATS in the past eight meetings, and the home team is 8-2 ATS across the past 10 in the series.

Arizona at Washington: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Washington 30, Arizona 27

Money line (ML)

Washington (-500) will cost you five times your potential return. Over the long haul that’s just not a good wagering strategy, especially in a game that could be rather close. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

ARIZONA +11.5 (-110) is a bet which goes against the recent series betting trends, but sometimes trends are made to be broken. You can’t bet on a trend continuing when, sometimes, it started with team members or even a coaching staff who aren’t even on the sidelines in the game to be played! It’s false security sometimes, so don’t put too much stock into some trends.

The Wildcats have an attractive, balanced offense that will hang with Washington as they hung with USC last weekend.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 52.5 (-110) is my favorite play on this board. While anyone who held a Washington Over ticket last week might be a little gun-shy, it’s the way to go; move on. The Huskies rolled up 24 first-half points, and allowed 21 in the first 30 minutes. They should be involved in some good old-fashioned “Pac-12 After Dark” shootouts this season, starting with this one right here.
