Are these the new Boston Celtics City Edition jerseys?

If these are really the new Boston Celtics City Edition alternates, do you like the leaked design more or less than last year’s?

If the Boston Celtics 2020-21 City Edition alternate jersey designs have really been leaked, they aren’t exactly setting the world (or at least Twitter) on fire.

And that is an improvement over the reception of last year’s iteration, widely mocked for their heavy-handed attempts to pay homage to the city’s population of Irish ancestry using a font many compared to anything from the door sign of an Irish pub to the cover art of an Enya album.

Possessing a spartan white minimalist design that may well be in response to such a backlash, the rumored new jerseys have little to point except the font, and a passing resemblance to the banners hanging overhead.

We appreciate the nod at the Celtics Wire if these are the genuine article; as of yet there seem to be no rumbles from the team either confirming or denying their authenticity.

And while we can’t say they get us excited, they also don’t make our eyes roll in quite the same way they did last time around.

An all-white color scheme with green lettering eliminates the “what-color-is-this-dress” debate we had to listen to after big man Enes Kanter leaked the last City Edition designs.

While a little underwhelming, we don’t hate them — and that’s progress.
