Through five weeks, the Indianapolis Colts are 3-2. They have impressive wins over the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears but also have some letdown losses to the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Cleveland Browns.

After a disappointing 7-9 season in 2019, the Colts added Philip Rivers, DeForest Buckner and other key additions so they can make a push to make the playoffs.
Early indications were Indianapolis could make the playoffs and possibly get to the Super Bowl but after five weeks, it’s still unclear whether they’re contenders.
My humble opinion, I don’t think the Colts are true contenders to make the playoffs, and for sure don’t think they can make a run to the Super Bowl.
After last week’s performance against what could be a playoff team in the Browns, it seems as if Indianapolis just doesn’t have enough to contend with the better teams in the AFC—at least right now.
There is still plenty of time to prove the Colts can contend in the AFC, but the game plan for Indianapolis leaves them with little room for error each week.
The Colts rely on a great, consistent running game, efficient quarterback play, and a good-to-great defensive performance that forces mistakes and turnovers from their opponent.
As shown versus Cleveland, that game plan can’t work against everyone. The defense couldn’t get a stop in the first half, Rivers turned the ball over trying to lead a comeback, and the running game—as it has all season—has been inconsistent.
Luckily for Indianapolis, there is still plenty of time left in the season, and they’re sitting at 3-2 right now. But with opponents like Baltimore, Green Bay, Tennesse and Houston twice, and Pittsburgh coming up, the Colts will have more chances to show if they’re a true contender in the AFC or not.
