Are the Boston Celtics undergoing an identity shift?

Boston’s identity seems to be shifting towards a dominant team on both ends of the floor.

The Boston Celtics have been showing a strong defensive identity this season, along with a dominant offense. They currently have the second-best defense in the league, allowing the second-fewest shots at the rim and forcing teams to take less efficient long midrange shots. The team has also improved defensive rebounding, an area that was a concern before the season started.

The starting lineup, in particular, has been impressive defensively. The Celtics’ success there has been a result of everyone buying into the team’s defensive mindset and sacrificing for the greater goal. Al Horford, especially, has taken on a new role on both ends coming off the bench and has been effective. Boston’s identity seems to be shifting towards a dominant team on both ends of the floor.

The hosts of the CLNS Media “First to the Floor” podcast weighed in on this shift of sorts on a recent episode of the show.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear their thoughts on the team the Celtics are becoming.
