Hubert Davis and his staff at North Carolina have a big offseason ahead as they try to get the program back where it should be. With holes on the roster due to departures via the portal and graduation, it’s already been an eventful few weeks.
And the action is going to pick up as the weeks go on.
On Tuesday, North Carolina received good news when former Louisville forward Jae’Lyn Withers announced his commitment. But it isn’t done yet: The Tar Heels are trending for another forward.
Former Stanford forward Harrison Ingram has drawn significant interest from blue bloods North Carolina, Kansas and Kentucky so far. However, it appears UNC might be the front-runner.
The Tar Heels are the trending pick on On3 on Tuesday morning, a good sign for their chances. They are at a 99.7%, a total switch from a few days ago when Kansas was the favorite. On3’s Jamie Shaw had this to say about Ingram and UNC:
“Sources say these same schools remain involved, with North Carolina and Michigan making strong pushes over the last week. Separate sources say there is a lot of momentum right now for North Carolina. While Kansas was the school I heard early, North Carolina is the school I am hearing about the most currently. Michigan is still trying to make a push.”
The commitment of Withers will not affect Ingram’s decision; the Tar Heels have a big need for a wing this season.
Landing Ingram would be huge for UNC’s roster and would give them a legit option at the forward position.
