To the surprise of no one, Arch Manning is the top quarterback in the class of 2023, according to 247Sports.

Manning, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound pro-style passer from Isidore Newman in New Orleans, was initially ranked the No. 1 quarterback when 247Sports first released its top 100 players.

This week, the recruiting site ranked its Top247, and Manning remains the No. 1 quarterback — and No. 5 overall prospect.

The nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, Arch Manning, will be one of the most coveted high-school passers in recent memory.

As a sophomore in 2020, Manning completed 146 of 219 pass attempts for 1,922 yards with 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Manning led Newman to a 9-1 record and a berth in the Louisiana Division III state semifinals.

While it is still early in Manning’s recruitment, he told Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports he has spoken with several coaches and named LSU head coach Ed Orgeron and offensive coordinator Jake Peetz.

“I’ve been talking with a bunch of coaches,” Manning said. “Coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian) at Texas, coach Peetz and coach O (Orgeron) at LSU and I’ve gotten the opportunity to talk with coach Saban too.”

It’s good news for LSU fans Manning specifically named both Peetz and Orgeron.

Signing the top players in the state of Louisiana is always LSU’s top priority. And there is no bigger talent in 2023 from Louisiana than Manning.

Despite commitments from Garrett Nussmeier and Walker Howard in back-to-back classes, Manning will remain LSU’s top priority in the future.
