Apology accepted but Chan Sung Jung tells Brian Ortega ‘I’ll see you in the octagon’

“We have only one more thing left between us and that is the fight.”

There might be only one way for [autotag]Chan Sung Jung[/autotag] and [autotag]Brian Ortega[/autotag] to settle their beef once and for all.

After going back-and-forth for months, with “The Korean Zombie” accusing Ortega of ducking him, their rivalry reached new heights when Ortega was escorted out of the arena for slapping Jung’s manager, rapper Jay Park, during this past weekend’s UFC 248 event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Ortega subsequently issued a brief apology and then followed it up with a more lengthy statement, addressing both Park and Jung.

Jung (16-5 MMA, 6-2 UFC) then took to Instagram to respond to Ortega (14-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC), issuing an apology of his own, but making it very clear that he would like their previously scheduled UFC on ESPN+ 23 bout rebooked once he’s able to return from eye surgery.

“Everybody makes mistakes, including me. However, you were able to own up to your mistakes and apologize. There were times where I was given the opportunity to make up for my mistake and I didn’t.
I appreciate your apology. It shows that what happened last Saturday was not just “a show” to promote our fight.
This helps me a lot because some people thought I was promoting the fight and laughed at me, which stressed me out. So I really needed your apology. Your apology helped me out a lot.
I too, apologize for trash talking. I thought my fans were enjoying it but what happened taught me to be more careful. Also, I realized this was not the person that I really am. We have only one more thing left between us and that is the fight. I will fight you and I will beat you, I really will.
Please wait until my eyes get better. I promise it won’t take long. I’ll see you in the octagon. @briantcity”

Ortega hasn’t competed since falling short in a bid to capture the UFC featherweight title in a unanimous decision loss to Max Holloway in December 2018.

When a knee injury forced Ortega out of the planned UFC on on ESPN+ 23 headliner in South Korea against Jung this past December, he was replaced by Frankie Edgar, who Jung went on to knock out in Round 1, his third straight first-round finish.
