The Chicago Bears have some young talent on their roster that they’re expecting big things from in 2020.
NFL.com’s Marc Sessler examined some prime candidates for a future first-time Pro Bowler for every team, and he believes third-year receiver Anthony Miller could be that guy for the Bears.
Allen Robinson roams as Chicago’s top wideout, but Miller offers breakout potential after surging down the stretch in 2019. He piled up 445 of his 656 yards after Week 9, highlighted by a 9/118/1 line against the Packers and 140 yards off nine grabs in a Thanksgiving win over the Lions. Taylor Gabriel’s exit means more snaps while the addition of Nick Foles — if he stays upright — could flip the switch for one of the game’s more impossible-to-watch passing attacks of 2019.
With the departure of veteran Taylor Gabriel, Miller is in a prime spot to have a breakout season in Year 3. While Miller had a sluggish start to his 2019 season, there were moments where he showed that he’s capable of being a downfield threat in this passing attack.
When the Bears offense started to heat up, Miller thrived. There was a five-game stretch where he totaled 33 receptions for 431 yards and two touchdowns in Weeks 11-15. Miller finished the year with 52 receptions for 656 yards and two scores.
With an additional year of experience in Matt Nagy’s offense and what’s sure to be better quarterback play — be it from Mitchell Trubisky or Nick Foles — Miller is in a good position to have that breakout year. Which might even include a Pro Bowl nod.
