After two subpar offensive outings, Anthony Davis got back to his usual dominant self when the Los Angeles Lakers visited the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday.
He scored 35 points, including 14 in the first quarter, while shooting 11-of-18 from the field and 12-of-13 from the free-throw line to go along with 17 rebounds in L.A.’s 123-108 win.
Davis has had a number of big games against his former team, and this was another.
However, the Lakers are still being cautious with him following his right foot stress injury in December. As a result, head coach Darvin Ham said he will not suit up when they travel to face the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.
Darvin Ham said Anthony Davis – 35P, 17R in the win – won’t play tomorrow night on the 2nd night of a B2B. That’s still the plan with the medical staff to hold him out of B2B’s that was put in place prior to his return to play from the stress reaction in his foot.

The Rockets may have the worst record in the Western Conference at 16-52, but they’re coming off a surprising 111-109 win over the Boston Celtics on Monday. Los Angeles will need to come out strongly without Davis and not assume this will be an automatic victory.
