Anthony Davis on Portland’s Damian Lillard: ‘He’s balling’

The Lakers star big man broke down what Damian Lillard has done and what the Lakers can do to slow him down.

Ever since the Portland Trail Blazers started their seeding game schedule back on July 31, it’s been Dame Time. Lillard was incredible in the nine games the Blazers to make it to the playoffs and he was honored by the NBA as the MVP of the seeding games. Lillard averaged 37.6 points, 9.6 assists, four rebounds and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 43.6% from the 3-point line on nearly 13 3-point attempts per game.

Thanks to Lillard, the Blazers have had the best offense in the bubble with a monstrous 122.5 offensive rating. The Lakers, meanwhile, had the 3rd worst offense of the bubble. Portland defense, however, was also 3rd worst in the bubble. The challenge defensively for the Lakers will be slowing down an offense nobody has been able to slow down, according to Anthony Davis.

“You guys do your best to contain him and take away some of his tendencies,” Davis said. “But they also have all the dawgs to make the plays as well so they’re a tough opponent. But everybody knows what level he is on his mindset.”

The Lakers know they will have to slow Lillard down to advance and Davis knows it just as well as anybody.
