Los Angeles Lakers coach Frank Vogel told reporters before the game that he hoped to approach Saturday’s scrimmage more like a real game with a real rotation, but of course, the plan for Vogel and the Lakers went slightly awry. Lakers star big man Anthony Davis was poked in the eye during the first half of Saturday’s scrimmage against the Orlando Magic, which forced him to leave the scrimmage. A few moments after Davis left the game, the Lakers announced that Davis would not return for the remainder of the scrimmage, according to ESPN.com’s Dave McMenamin.
Kyle Kuzma led the Lakers with 16 points in the first half of the scrimmage, as the Lakers dominated the Magic, 60-47.

The Lakers have one more scrimmage but given Davis’ eye situation and that head coach Frank Vogel said he didn’t anticipate the Lakers stars playing in every scrimmage, it’s fair to wonder whether we won’t see Davis on the court until the games start to count on July 30, starting with the Los Angeles Clippers.
