There will be a familiar face on the court Monday for the Los Angeles Lakers when the Chicago Bulls come into town.
Alex Caruso, who signed with the Bulls on a four-year deal this summer, will be back in the place he carved out a career as a 3-and-D point guard.
Caruso helped build the team culture in L.A. alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, which culminated in a ring in 2019-20. His defensive tenacity and proficiency played a crucial role for the team, and he gradually become a fan favorite.
Davis said after the win against the San Antonio Spurs he is excited to face off against Caruso.
“Who? I don’t know him. I don’t know that guy,” Davis joked. “Nah, it’s going to be fun playing against AC again. All the stuff he brought to our team to win a championship, to our team last year, he was a big part of what we did here.”
Davis, whose hometown is Chicago, explained how the game will be more emotional for Caruso because he is returning to his former city and stadium.
“Probably a little bit more emotional for him than me just because he’s back here in L.A. It’s usually more emotional that I’m back in Chicago,” Davis said. “But anytime I get a chance to play the Bulls, it’s always fun to go against your hometown team. But it’s going to be fun and exciting to play against AC and try to get that win against him.”
